c.1935 The
Holtman
brothers
were
born
and
raised
in
Park
City
and
Salt
Lake
City
Utah.
c.1946 It
all
began
in
1946
as
Wasatch
Metal
and
Salvage.
The
Holtman
brothers
with
their
father
and
founder
of
Wasatch
Metal
and
Salvage,
Arthur
Holtman.
c.1950–1960 The
main
goal
was
to
run
an
honest
and
full
service
junk
yard.
They
collected
scrap
metal,
cars,
boilers,
water
heaters,
etc.
and
if
they
heard
of
a
place
with
some
scrap,
they’d
go
and
pick
it
up.
Once
they
brought
material
in,
it
would
be
sorted.
If
the
metal
was
unsuitable
for
re-sale,
it
would
be
cut
up
and
loaded
onto
train
cars
and
trucks
to
ultimately
be
recycled.
In
those
days,
all
the
loading
was
done
by
hand.
Scrap
metal
dealers
were
recycling
before
the
term
was
invented!
1972 Wasatch
Metal
and
Salvage
was
selling carefully
selected,
reusable
steel
from
their
stock.
As
time
went
on,
their
business
and
customer
base
grew
and
grew
even
more,
customers
wanted
more
and
more
of
their
great
quality
steel.
Wasatch
Metal
and
Salvage
were
recognized
as
the
steel
experts
who
had
the
right
steel
product
for
their
customers’ project.
1977 Wasatch
Steel,
Inc. was
incorporated,
creating
the “Steel
Supermarket”. A full
line of
new inventory
now complimented
the used
and surplus
material.
